Sunday, June 16th we celebrate Father's Day.

"A Father is....."

A father is a source of strength,

A teacher and a guide,

The one his family looks up to

with loving trust and pride.....

A father is a helper

with a willing hand to lend,

A partner, an advisor,

and the finest kind of friend.

The day before father's day, June 15th. is celebrated as National Smile Power Day.  There is no knowledge of who, when, where or why it was started.  What does this day mean?  The role of this facial expression is really great and rather influential.  It is an expression denoting pleasure, sociability, happiness or amusement.  Smiling is considered an emotion and is known internationally as a means of communication.  Smiles often lead to laughter, and laughter leads to smiles.  As a physical activity, laughter is also very important as it is a perfect way to release tension and relaxing.  The power of a smile is underestimated.  We have become addicted to social media and our mobile devises.  We have lost the personal connection.  Look up and smile at someone.  You will probably get a smile in return, and both of you will experience a mood elevation.

Smiles are contagious!!

We would like to put a smile on your face and share some of the smiles we have captured from around the world.  Enjoy!

This image is titled "Young Colleen" and was taken in Ireland.  We happened to be in an area where the school bus was unloading, and this cute little girl agreed to have her picture taken.

This image is called "Pain and Pleasure" and was taken in Camogli, Italy. These two men were sitting on a stoop in a piazza and having a loud conversation.  The man on the left suddenly burst into laughter and for some reason the man on the right did not share his joy.

This image is titled "Young Trekker" and was taken in Norway.

We were all awaiting the same train.  We asked his mother if we could take his picture, but he refused to turn around.  So I just sat with camera ready and waited. Curiosity got him, and he finally turned with this wonderful smile!

Such a cutie!!

This image is called "Balinese Pet" and was taken in Bali, Indonesia.

We were on our way to visit a temple and this woman was sitting outside the temple selling her offerings to the Gods.  We bought some of her offerings and asked if we could take her picture.

She agreed, but it had to include her pet chicken.

This image is titled  "Solomon Smile" and was taken on one of the Solomon Islands in the Pacific Ocean.

We spent two weeks aboard the Biliki diving around the Solomon Islands.  During those two weeks, we passed only one other ship, her sister ship. We stopped on this one island to buy some fresh vegetables and fruits and visit the natives.

This cute little guy gave us this wonderful smile.

"When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant,

I could hardly stand to have the old man around.

But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much

the old man had learned in seven years."
